Compressed Carbon Block technology is considered the most effective method for reducing contaminants of health concern. Beyond the ordinary compression of carbon, the VOC-1 has gone through the additional process of making the carbon catalytically active, the most proven method for removing chloramines; a clear advantage over ordinary carbon block or conventional (GAC) granulated carbon filter technology. In addition to the removal of chloramines, the VOC-1 effectively removes micro-organisms such as giardia and cryptosporidium cysts, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) such as pesticides and herbicides, disinfectant byproducts, heavy metals, asbestos, particulates, and chlorine taste and odors.

Stage 4 This final stage is a catalytic carbon block compressed to a 1 micron pore size with radial filtration.
